Mirror, mirror on the wall. Or in the hallway. Or above the mantel. What I love most about mirrors is that they can be used in any room of the house, reflecting light, adding shine, and serving a functional purpose, too (we all need a quick touch-up now and then!). They’re also incredibly timeless. You’re far less likely to tire of a beautiful mirror than, say, a trendy piece of artwork. The following are ten hot mirror trends that I’m loving—and that are sure to look as current ten years from now as they do today.
- Colorful Glass Frames
These blue glass frames are making a comeback and add a sophisticated touch of color to any space (this mirror works particularly well if you already have blue in the room).
- Frameless Round Mirrors
These frameless round mirrors are very of-the-moment and will look right at home in any room of the house (oversized rounds with a thin metal frame are also very hot right now).
- Arched Mirrors
I love these arched mirrors over the closed off fireplace. They’re small and architecturally interesting, so they make an unusual and unexpected statement over this fireplace.
- Octagon Mirror
Looking to bring some edge into a space? This mirror has eight of them. Large and substantial, a geometric mirror anchors a room and serves as a focal point.
- Mirrored Screen
I’m in love with this gorgeous art deco vibe. Mirrored screens are making a comeback, and they’re such a fabulous way to dress up an apartment, a bedroom, or a dining room!
- Large-scale Mirrors
These large classic mirrors in an oversized scale with modern antiquing (love this black edge on the glass!) look very modern and of-the-moment.
- Multifaceted Mirrors
I’m absolutely in love with this look! Multifaceted mirrors are white hot right now—and more like an art sculpture for your wall than a mirror!
- Statement Mirrors
This room by Steven Gambrel shows how large scale pieces make so much more of a statement. Big round colonial mirrors are one of the hottest mirror trends right now, and I love the washed color of this one.
- Sculptural Mirrors
I love this idea for a DIY glam piece. Just glue random small items together, spray paint all one color, and attach to mirror. These mirror trends are something you can do yourself, or if you’re not feeling crafty, you can buy one premade. Looks great in black, too!
- Artistic Mirrors
The more unusual the shape of the mirror, the better! This tall mirror is lovely as an entry piece—more like a piece of art than just a plain mirror.
